WHAT KIDS DON’T KNOW WILL HURT THEM”
An educational event for parents and teens on cybersafety, the sex offender registry, and sex laws affecting juveniles will be presented on Thursday, April 22nd, at 6:30 pm at the Coastal Georgia Center, 305 Fahm Street (room 111). The presentation is sponsored by the Coastal Children’s Advocacy Center, as part of Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month and Crime Victims Rights Week activities.
The panel will feature Nancy Greenwood, Project Safe Childhood coordinator for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District, and Greg McConnell and Emily Thomas, prosecutors with the Chatham County District Attorney’s Office. Greenwood will address “Cybersafety in the Age of Cyberbullying and Sexting,” McConnell will discuss juveniles and the sex offender registry, and Thomas will talk about state laws that affect teen sexual behaviors.
The presentation, which is free and open to the public, is not suitable for young children.
The Coastal Children’s Advocacy Center provides free forensic and therapeutic services to children and adolescents who have been victims of sexual or severe physical abuse or who have witnessed violence.
