CCAC provides a safe, confidential, child-friendly site

for free therapeutic and investigative services to victims of child abuse. The children’s advocacy center is an offshoot of projects begun by the Chatham County Child Sexual Abuse Task Force, a group of professionals who began working together in 1984 to streamline and coordinate services to victimized children. Task force members represented law enforcement, mental health, education, child protective services, juvenile court, the district attorney’s office, residential services, and child and victim advocacy. In 1999, the group merged with the Domestic Violence Task Force to form the Chatham County Family Violence Council—which continues to advocate for victims of physical and sexual violence, and to offer training and community education.
